February 13, 2020 – What We Spray and How We Spray It by Barry Reiter

Finishes that can be sprayed:

  • Solvent Based
    • Laquer
    • Shellac
  • Water Based – a good finish now
    • Laquer – 
    • Urethane

What we spray with:

  • Materials for construction of spray equipment
    • mild steel vs. stainless steel
  • Air-Less Equipment
    • Can be bulky – has large hose, turbine and has flexibility
    • Expensive
    • Uses hot air
  • Air-Powered Equipment
    • can have a pot, pot gun, cup gun, or air brush
    • Harbor Freight has an inexpensive gun that works for a short time
    • run 91% alcohol through gun to clean 
    • put regulator for pressure close to gun
    • 22-26 psi with trigger in – get at least 22 psi on gauge for correct pressure
  • When spraying – overlap last strip by half
